Mihikatha Nalawala was originally sung by Sunil Shantha, a renowned artist in the Sri Lankan Music industry, in 1968. While the melody of the song was also developed by Sunil Shantha, the lyrics for the song were written by Hubath Dissanayake. In an interview with Sooriya records, Shaun Maximus Dissanayake revealed that Hubath Dissanayake’s inspiration for the song was a school teacher he was deeply attracted to at the time. Shaun Maximus added that the lust in the song is very subtle.
