According to Dileepa Abeysekera, his father had written some lyrics on Dileepa’s birthday and Clarence Wijewardane had asked for the lyrics to turn it into a song. This is the first song composed by Clarence Wijewardane and the first song performed by his band The Moonstones which was written by Dileepa’s father, Karunarathna Abeysekara. The melody and music was developed by Clarence Wijewardane. The original musical accompaniment was by The Moonstones.
