Our house in Thirunelvely was built under the supervision of my great-grandfather, with the money earned from Malaysia by my grandfather in the 1930s. My grandfather sent my mother and others from Malaysia for studies in Jaffna. During the mango season my mother used to keep the mangos under the bed to ripen. When I was small, I used to hide myself under the bed and eat the mangos.
